1st Place: €500 + medal + NORIES CUP
2nd Place: valuable material prizes + medal
3rd Place: valuable material prizes + medal

Training Information:
The training time will be specified later; the expected duration is 1 hour on Friday. Training will take place on the old stock of fish. After new fish are stocked, the water will be closed so we can enjoy the competition to the fullest. The preliminary time is: 14:00 – 15:00.
Rules valid for both days
Lures and Equipment
- Only hard NORIES lures, spoons, and wobblers are allowed.
- Modified lures are not permitted; however, individually painted lures are allowed. Adding any additional weight to lures (both wobblers and spoons) is prohibited.
- It is not allowed to use spoons shorter than 18 mm (all Nories spoons comply with this rule).
- Barbless hooks are mandatory. The hook must be manufactured without a barb; manually removed barbs are not allowed. It is also forbidden to use colored hooks, custom-painted hooks, or to attach any kind of trigger such as a twister tail or feathers to the hook.
- Only one hook may be used on a spoon, attached by a single split ring. In the case of a wobbler, two single hooks are allowed. For a spoon, only one single hook is allowed.
- The use of a “front hook” (hook placed at the front of a spoon) is prohibited.
- The maximum rod length is 210 cm (7 ft), and each competitor may bring a maximum of 6 rods to the tournament venue. This means a competitor may have up to 6 rods at the water. IMPORTANT CHANGE – On Day 2, Nories Cup Europe Style, there is no rod limit.
- The total length of the landing net may not exceed 160 cm. The landing net must be equipped with a silicone or rubber mesh. Rubber-coated fabric nets will not be accepted.
- If a competitor uses an illegal lure, they will be disqualified.
- If a competitor uses a barbed hook, they will be disqualified.
- The head referee reserves the right to evaluate each rule violation individually. Possible additional penalties include warnings or not counting the fish.
- We strongly recommend bringing only approved lures to avoid misunderstandings.
Scoring the Fish
- IMPORTANT CHANGE – The older rule with “HIT” has been replaced! New rule: The fish must be landed before the signal that marks the end of the round. If the fish is hooked before the signal indicating the switch in the round, the competitor may finish landing it.
- A fish is counted the moment it touches the inside mesh of the landing net.
- A fish is counted only if it is hooked in the head area, defined by the gill arches.
- A fish placed on the ground will not be scored. This also applies if the fish falls to the ground.
- A fish held directly in hand will not be scored. If the fish is deeply hooked, the competitor shows it to the referee, who may allow the competitor to handle it from underneath through the landing net. Keep in mind that we are fishing with hard lures and barbless hooks, so the fish usually comes off very easily.
- If a fish is hooked after the “end of round” signal, it will not be counted.
Other Rules
- All competitors are expected to follow the rules and ensure the competition is an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. We are a competition community, and an event like the Nories Cup is our small celebration. During the NORIES Cup, after fishing their own sector, competitors act as referees for their sector. This ensures maximum objectivity. In case of disputes, the head referee is part of the organizing team.
- Each competitor must fish independently. Assistance with untangling lines, changing hooks, or giving advice during the tournament is forbidden. A competitor must not obstruct others in their sector, must not intentionally cross another’s line, and must not use attractants or scents. Any behavior that could damage the prestige of the tournament, including significant intoxication (alcohol consumption and smoking are prohibited during rounds), may result in point deduction or disqualification. The organizer reserves the right to evaluate such situations individually.
- During each round, competitors should wear a cap/hat and glasses. This rule is for safety reasons. Glasses protect against eye injuries.
- The organizer is not responsible for injuries or accidents during the competition. Only adult competitors may participate, and they do so at their own risk. The competition will take place in all weather conditions except in the case of natural disasters.
- If deemed necessary, the organizer may adjust the round schedule or certain rules on-site to ensure a smooth and professional competition.
- The entry fee is refundable only if the competition is canceled.
- Interviews will be recorded with the finalists. Each competitor agrees to being photographed during the competition and to the publication of the photos.
- The training time will be specified later; the expected duration is 1 hour on Friday. Training will take place on the old stock of fish. After new fish are stocked, the water will be closed so competitors can enjoy the event to the fullest.
- Fishing from a chair is prohibited.
- Competitions such as the Nories Cup are a celebration of lure fishing; competitors are expected to remain until the end of the tournament for the official awards ceremony.
- Selling or commercial activities are prohibited, except for those authorized by the organizer.
Important Information:
- At least 600 kg of fresh trout will be stocked for the competition.
- The weekend before the competition, a Trout Area HARD BAITS round will take place with its own fish stocking, so we expect above-average stocking for the tournament.
- Medical assistance is available at phone numbers 112 or 155.
- Refreshments can be purchased at a hotel located 50 meters from the pond.
- Accommodation is available at the pond and in the village.
Day 1:
Detailed step-by-step manual for the competition
NORIES CUP 2025 – Official Japan
Slovakia – Czech Republic – Hungary
96 competitors will participate in the competition
If someone does not arrive, or if the number of competitors is not full, a random draw will assign some sectors fewer members. However, the same number of competitors will advance from that sector as if it were full.
The draw will take place electronically before the competition and will determine the division into Group A and Group B, as well as the competitor’s number.
First Round – Qualification
(This round determines whether a competitor advances via the “winners’ group” or the “second chance group.”)
- Group A: 40 min (2 × 20 min)
- Group B: 40 min (2 × 20 min)
96 competitors will receive numbers A1–A48 and B1–B48. This creates 12 sectors with 4 competitors each in Group A and Group B. Competitors rotate within their sector. The first round consists of two 20-minute matches. After 20 minutes, competitors rotate; 2 minutes are allocated for rotation.
In this round, competitors act as referees for each other: when A1–A4 are fishing, B1–B4 serve as referees for them. Winners are determined by the number of trout caught in the entire first round. The first two (A and B) advance to the winners’ group. The other two continue in the tournament through the “second chance group.” In the case of a tie, a 5-minute tie-break is held. The tie-break starts with a signal from the organizer or an authorized person. The tie-break is decided by the “golden fish.” If no fish is caught, the organizer will hold a draw to determine the winner.
Second Round
- Winners’ group – 40 min (2 × 20 min matches)
- Second chance group – 40 min (2 × 20 min matches)
[winners’ group]
In this round, the top two from the first round of Group A and the top two from Group B compete. Each group fishes in the same sector as in the first round. Positions within the sector are determined according to a key set by the organizers (lower number before higher; if equal, A before B). When competitors from the winners’ group are fishing, referees are from the second chance group. Winners are decided by the total number of trout caught. The top two advance to the next stage. The other two are eliminated. In case of a tie, a 5-minute tie-break is held, decided by the “golden fish.” If no fish is caught, a draw is held.
[second chance group]
Here, the lower two from the first round of Group A and the lower two from Group B compete. Each group fishes in the same sector as in the first round. Positions within the sector are determined by the same key as above. When the winners’ group is fishing, referees are from the second chance group and vice versa. Winners are decided by the total number of trout caught. The first-place competitor advances to the next stage; the other three are eliminated. A 5-minute tie-break with the “golden fish” applies. If no fish is caught, a draw is held.
Third Round
(The last round before the semifinals; after this round there will be a longer break, then the semifinals.)
- Duration: 40 min (2 × 20 min matches)
- In this round, both the winners’ group and the second chance group fish simultaneously.
[winners’ group]
This creates 6 sectors with 4 competitors each, for a total of 24. From each sector, 2 competitors advance. The organizer assigns specific positions. Each round consists of two 20-minute matches with a 2-minute rotation. Winners are determined by the total number of trout caught. Advancing competitors move on to the semifinals. Referees are provided by the organizers. In case of a tie, a 5-minute “golden fish” tie-break is held; if no fish is caught, the winner is determined by a draw.
[second chance group]
This creates 3 sectors with 4 competitors each, for a total of 12. From each sector, 1 competitor advances. The organizer assigns positions. Each round consists of two 20-minute matches with 2-minute rotations. Winners are determined by the number of trout caught. The first-place competitor from each sector advances to the semifinals. Referees are provided by the organizers. In case of a tie, a 5-minute “golden fish” tie-break is held; if no fish is caught, a draw determines the winner.
Semifinals – 30 min (3 × 10 min matches)
This stage creates 5 sectors with 3 competitors each, totaling 15. Positions are assigned ceremonially before the round begins. Each round has three 10-minute matches, with a 2-minute rotation after each (rotation = shift one place to the right). Winners are decided by the number of trout caught. Referees are provided by the organizers. In the case of a tie, a 5-minute “golden fish” tie-break is held. If no fish is caught, competitors switch places and fish again. If still no fish is caught after another 5 minutes, a draw is held to determine the winner.
Finals – 25 min (5 × 5 min matches)
- The fishing sector will be determined by the organizer.
- The round consists of 5 rotations. Every 5 minutes, competitors rotate; 2 minutes are allocated for rotation.
- The winner is determined by the number of trout caught in the round. Referees are provided by the organizers.
- In the case of a tie, a 5-minute tie-break is held. If no fish is caught after 5 minutes, competitors rotate and continue fishing until a fish is caught or the organizer declares a draw (possible only after 15 minutes of tie-break).
Sector Arrangement:
Lower number comes before higher; in case of a tie, Group A comes before Group B.
Rotation
- In a sector with 4 competitors: 1st switches with 3rd, and 2nd with 4th.
- In a sector with 3 competitors: everyone shifts one position to the right (1st to 2nd, 3rd to 1st).
- In a sector with 5 competitors: everyone shifts one position to the right.
